In the Sculpture degree course students are trained to work practically with their hands, while also being helped to find and develop their own artistic voice so that they can locate and orientate themselves within the contemporary art world.
The student’s individual development as an artist is facilitated through hands-on, practical project work. This begins with the sourcing of materials (wood comes from the forest not the wood yard, stone comes straight from the quarry) and culminates with the curation and organisation of a public exhibition. This includes negotiating with public bodies, working with exhibition technology, finding sponsors, catalogue design, publicity and public relations.
